So, Darling, how can you help the NW?
Date published: 03 September 2009
Chancellor Alistair Darling was quizzed by Manchester business leaders during a private meeting at Greater Manchester Chamber.
The main issues raised were the reluctance of banks to lend to businesses, the lack of empty property tax relief and the increase in National Insurance contributions.
The meeting was attended by representatives from a range of Greater Manchester industries including construction, manufacturing and brewing.
Greater Manchester Chamber chief executive Angie Robinson said: “We had a wide-ranging discussion and we were delighted to respond to the Chancellor’s request to talk to some of our members. This shows the key role Greater Manchester plays in the UK economy.”
