Council signs deal for ethernet solution
Date published: 18 August 2009
Rochdale Borough Council has signed a contract with Rochdale based Internet Service Provider Zen Internet for Zen’s ethernet solution, the next generation of business class connectivity, offering speeds of up to 1Gbps.
The Council provides more than 800 different services for residents, tourists and the business community in the Borough and current connectivity was nearing maximum capacity, causing problems with productivity and efficiency within the internal network. In particular, employees were experiencing very slow responses, especially at peak times throughout the day.
The increase in capacity and speed of connectivity means fewer problems at peak times enabling the Council to provide a more efficient service and resolving issues in terms of productivity and efficiency.
Neville Johnson, Service Delivery Manager, Rochdale Borough Council said: "The upgrade was completed on time and was executed with minimal disruption to the existing service. It was scheduled at a time we requested which meant our users had no experience of downtime."
Andrew Saunders, Head of Product Management and Marketing, Zen Internet said: "We are delighted to be able to provide Rochdale Borough Council with an Ethernet solution to support their connectivity needs."
