New voice at Zen

Date published: 03 August 2009

Rochdale based Zen Internet, one of the UK’s leading Internet Service Providers (ISP), has appointed a former Oldham Athletic apprentice footballer as its new voice product manager.

Michael Pennington brings 20 years specialist knowledge of voice, data and wireless network services and systems integration. He joins the product management team at Zen, bringing an increased focus on developing new voice services that will be key in Zen’s evolution from ISP into a converged services provider with a full portfolio of internet, data, voice and hosting solutions.

Zen Internet was established in 1995, one of the first ISPs in the UK, and is still independently owned.

Prior to joining Zen, Mr Pennington, who was at Boundary Park as a young goalkeeper between 1980 and 1983, worked for Azzurri Communications. He made 20 appearances for Athletic reserves and one first-team appearance in a pre-season friendly before moving on to Manchester City as youth team keeper.

He said: “Zen is an organisation that is highly regarded as a provider of premier broadband services and is increasingly recognised as a key provider of managed IP networking solutions.”
