Tidy Business Standards community clean pp

Date published: 26 February 2008

Rochdale Council and Groundwork Oldham amp; Rochdale are working in partnership, urging  businesses to support a community clean up in Milkstone on Thursday 28 February, as part of the Tidy Business Standards scheme.

Keeping the Borough of Rochdale clean and tidy is important to everyone that lives, works and visits the area. Tidy Business Standards is an initiative  to encourage businesses to reduce litter and have a good system in place for  waste  management. There is an additional focus on showing support to the local community.

According to Julia  Dickinson, an Environmental Business Advisor for Groundwork Oldham amp; Rochdale: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to work in partnership with the community and generate positive media coverage.  A combination of organisations, and the community, working together co-operatively to address the problem of litter, will have a far greater chance of making an impact on the area. Furthermore, local school children  will  also  be participating in the litter pick, as we attempt to engage and educate everyone in the vicinity.”

Ms Dickinson adds: “Tidy Business Standards recognises business for their part in trying to regenerate the area in a positive manner. Working towards a cleaner, greener and safer community requires the support of everyone  including  business,  the council and the public. If we all take responsibility together, we can create a win-win situation that is equally beneficial  to  all.  The company wins, the community wins, and the environment wins too!”
