Appeal for Sponsors for Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club Regatta

Date published: 06 August 2007

On Saturday 1 September 2007, Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club (HLRC) will host their annual rowing regatta. The regatta  is the second largest one day rowing event of its kind in the country and will attract around 350 competitors, their coaches and supporters from clubs all over the country to enjoy the delights of rowing on Hollingworth Lake. Anybody wishing to watch the “Henley of the North” can do so for free, just turn up at the Lake.

Racing will begin at 9am with the final races completing the day at 6pm.

It will be a long hard day for the HLRC members and helpers, but is well worth it to show off the area and facilities we have on offer and to provide some friendly and exciting racing towards the end of the regatta season. Regattas have been seriously affected by the flooding and other weather conditions experienced by various parts of the country this summer and it is hoped that Rowing Clubs who may not have raced previously at Hollingworth Lake will decide to support the event this year.

Competitors will include novice to elite rowers, ages 12 to 65 plus and will no doubt include future Olympic hopefuls. This will be an excellent opportunity for local businesses to get involved by providing sponsorship and helping HLRC continue making this event one of the most popular in the country.

Sponsoring the event is easy, just contact Mike Smith on 0780 1491436
