Free healthy lifestyle support services

Groundwork Oldham amp; Rochdale have secured Neighbourhood Renewal Funding, and work in partnership with Rochdale PCT and Rochdale Council to deliver a package of free healthy lifestyle support services to small and medium sized businesses within Rochdale.
It is estimated that 32.9 million working days are lost per year through illness caused or made worse by work.
The Workplace Health Advisor can work with you to make your business a healthier place to work by:
- Providing a healthy lifestyles assessment of your workplace and recommendations for improvements in the form of an action plan.
- Providing and analysing confidential questionnaires for individual employees in order to assess areas where support and advice may be required.
- Advising on suitable programmes, policies and activities.
- Training on a wide range of healthy lifestyle topics and skills, either on or off site depending on demand.
- Referring individuals to appropriate support services.
Specific advice and support includes:
- Smoking: On-site smoking cessation classes can be arranged for groups of employees wishing to stop smoking, or arrangements could be made for a member of your staff to be trained as a smoking cessation tutor. They could also assist you with the design of a Smoking Control Policy for your workplace.
- Mental Health and Well-Being: Interactive workshops on stress awareness and management can be arranged, or they could provide you with a questionnaire, which takes into account sources of pressure in the workplace. carry out workplace risk assessments relating to stress.
- Health Education amp; Physical Activity: Advice and guidance around making your workforce more physically active and healthy.
- Drugs and Alcohol: Advice on policy development around drug and alcohol misuse in the workplace. We can also advise on supporting and dealing with employees that may have an alcohol/drug problem.
