Reduce your footprint at free workshop
Date published: 10 March 2009
Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale is hosting a free event aimed at teaching local businesses how to calculate their company carbon footprint.
The workshop will provide an outline of how to measure the carbon footprint of your organisation and the steps that can be taken to reduce carbon emissions.
Sara Williams, Environmental Business Advisor, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: "The economic downturn does not mean that carbon reduction has become less of a priority, rather it is motivation to review current business practices.
"Learning how to reduce an organisation’s footprint will help keep businesses energy and resource costs down, which is increasingly important in this financial climate.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to learn how to reduce their environmental impact and decrease their running costs.”
Topics covered will include, what a carbon footprint is, how to calculate it and how to reduce it. The session will also include development of an individual action plan for each delegate.
Dawn Wilson, Environmental Consultant delivering the course, said: “Managing resources and cutting costs is essential for business survival.
"By understanding and calculating your carbon footprint you will have a clearer understanding of how and where resources are used within the business, and it is a great starting point for setting reduction targets.
"Other businesses who have attended the workshop and have subsequently calculated their carbon footprint have also used this information to promote their environmental commitments and improvements to their internal and external stakeholders.”
The workshop will be on 18 March from 9.00am until 12.30pm in Rochdale. If you are interested in booking a staff member onto this workshop or to find out further information on the course, please contact Jean Maxwell at Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale on 0161 624 1444 or email jean.maxwell@groundwork.org.uk.
