Weak rules are to blame says Davies
Date published: 06 February 2009
The influx of foreign workers is the fault of the British Government supporting weak employment laws, says Euro-MP Chris Davies.
The North West Liberal Democrat MEP says changes in EU law on people working in other countries are needed.
Recent strike action has highlighted that local agreements on pay and conditions should not be undercut by employing people from elsewhere in Europe, he said.
“Competition is good, but it is supposed to be on a level playing field.
“If fair play is being prevented then the rules need to be strengthened.”
