Motorstore's bike bonanza raises £750 for local hospice
Date published: 11 September 2007
The Motorstore from Carcraft has raised £750 through a fund-raising campaign for Springhill Hospice. The Motorstore welcomed hundreds of visitors to its Bike Bonanza event, which featured 10% off all retail products and interactive demonstrations by Sony and the Raleigh Cyclelife team. Staff raised the funds by holding a customer car wash and Bonanza raffle on site. A digital camera, printer, LCD TV and PlayStation 3 were amongst the impressive list of raffle prizes.
Shirley Thorp of Littleborough has managed the family-owned Motorstore on Entwisle Road for three years. She said of the event: “Our Bank Holiday Bike Bonanza was a great success and the staff pulled out all the stops to raise as much money as possible for Springhill. Thank you to everybody who came along and showed their support. We look forward to raising lots more through fund-raising events on site in the months to come.”
Springhill Hospice on Broad Lane was opened in 1989 and provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illness from Rochdale and the surrounding areas. As a registered charity it relies heavily on the ongoing support of local businesses and communities.
Ian Jenkins, fundraising manager at the hospice, said: "It's great news that the Motorstore has raised such an amount. We were delighted when we heard that Motorstore had chosen us as their charity of the year because you know that they going to be putting on events and raising some money and this proves it. We're very grateful to them and £750 is a great sum - everyone at the Hospice will be delighted."
