Shobna Ghulati opens Advanced Hair and Skin Clinic
Date published: 26 September 2007
The Advanced Hair and Skin Clinic on Yorkshire Street was officially opened on by former Coronation Street actress Shobna Ghulati. Shobna has been a client of owner Vicky Mills for a few years and says that Vicky's treatments have "changed her life".
Ms Mills said: “We are advanced hair and skin therapists, offering services such as permanent hair reduction, general beauty treatments and facial rejuvenation. We specialise in the permanent hair removal as well as in treatments for acne and wrinkle reduction and treatments for sun damaged skin.
“We hope to appeal to male clients too, specifically offering back and facial hair removal.
“I started my training in beauty treatment 20 years ago. Five years ago I set up my own business working from home in Didsbury but last year I moved to Rochdale because my Dad had a stroke when he was living on Albert Royds Street.
“I took up a full time job as an accounts manager at a software company but I always kept my mind on the possibility of doing the beauty therapy again and then I invested in the new machine that I have now and set up the new business based around that. It really is an all singing all dancing piece of equipment; it is similar to one they use in Harrods in London.
“I had the treatment myself in Manchester six years ago and it was fantastic and I think there is massive need or desire for it both in Rochdale and beyond.
“I was supposed to move into the premises in January but there were some complications with the planning permission on the building and I had to sub-lease for nine months but now it’s ready to open. We’ve got all the décor sorted, the interior looks fantastic with superb pictures on the walls.
“One of the treatments we offer is based on remodelling collagen in the skin and I think I have the only machine in the country with these specific capabilities.
“Our opening offers include a free upper lip treatment worth £150 with any other purchase.
“I know the prices do not sound cheap but they are when you consider that we are talking about permanent hair removal.”
