96.2 The Revolution
Radio station 96.2 The Revolution has been bought by TV and radio personality Steve Penk.
The station was previously jointly owned by UKRD and Hirst, Kidd and Rennie Ltd - owners of the Oldham Chronicle Newspaper and joint owners of Rochdale Online.
Penk, who is renowned for his wind up and prank calls, made his name at Manchester station Key 103 and he has also worked at Capital Radio and Virgin over his 30 year career.
He also branched out into TV with stints on TV Nightmares, The Way They Were and TV’s Naughtiest Blunders.
He said: “"For some time I've been looking at various possible acquisitions but was very keen to find something in the two UK markets I know best, the North West and the South East.
“The Revolution fits the brief perfectly and I have big plans for the radio station. The North West is a fantastic market currently dominated by the huge radio groups and the BBC.”
