Date published: 18 December 2018

Haulage and logistics company James Nuttall (Transport) Limited has opened a secure state-of-the-art storage facility in refurbished warehousing at its Rochdale headquarters.

The Castleton-based business offers long or short term lets in a high quality unit with easy access to the M62 motorway. The warehouse has space for 1,000 pallets and can be customised to suit specific storage requirements.

James Nuttall has invested heavily to modernise the warehouse, which is now a palletised unit with new racking serviced by narrow aisle forklift trucks. The insulated premises also features a cross docking and container de-vanning facility and a secure yard.

The warehouse refurbishment will help the company deliver a complete supply chain solution to customers across industry sectors. James Nuttall also provides 24/7 haulage to destinations across the UK and Europe, as part of a complete door-to-door delivery service. Its state-of-the-art warehouse refurbishment means the company can now offer premier storage facilities to help customers meet seasonal and peak volume requirements.

Director Jane Nuttall said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this modern warehousing facility to customers who have issues with peak or seasonal demand, or those that need longer term storage.

“They can be safe in the knowledge that their valuable goods and materials are stored in a secure, insulated warehouse with the most up-to-date facilities.

“For James Nuttall (Transport), the facility is part of a strategy to offer a complete logistics and supply chain solution from our Rochdale base.”

The company’s decision to invest heavily in its Rochdale facility is evidence of the town’s appeal to businesses in the logistics sector. Rochdale is considered a gateway to regional, national and international markets thanks to its excellent location and enviable transport links. Rochdale offers three direct links to the M62, putting the cities and airports of Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool within an hour’s drive, and the ports of Liverpool and Hull within easy reach.

Those advantages have helped to make Rochdale home to the largest commercial and logistics cluster in Greater Manchester. Approximately 26,900 people are employed in the logistics sector within a 30 minute drive of the town.
