Far Wicken Hall Farm has been named as one of the UK's top places to stay
A Rochdale cottage has been named as one of the top 100 places to stay across England.
Far Wicken Hall Farm on the Rochdale/Saddleworth border was named as the only local winner at the fourth annual ROSE Awards at the Independent Hotel Show in London on 16 October.
The cottage is an extensive fully renovated barn which overlooks Ogden reservoir, and has uninterrupted views of the South Pennines.
The ROSE Awards puts the spotlight on those who provide visitors with the warmest of welcomes. They recognise the owners, management and employees of establishments that go above and beyond, making customers’ experiences extra special, irrespective of star rating, style or accommodation type.
Fiona Schofield, who runs Far Wicken Hall with her husband, Andrew, said: “We were very pleased to be named as one of the best 100 in the country. We have people from all over the world stay here, as it’s ideal for both family and businesses.”
Fiona, who has 30 years of hospitality experience, added: “We were informed a few weeks ago that we passed our five-star rating as a self-catering cottage, which has now been rated as one of the best for accommodation and service.”
VisitEngland Director Patricia Yates said: “It is the human touch that these people provide that make visitors’ experiences memorable, ensuring repeat business and helping the industry thrive.”
Celebrating the teams and owners whose efforts surpass expectations, the ROSE Award recipients can advertise their accolade as long as they remain within the VisitEngland quality scheme.
