Local businesses invited to ‘meet the buyer’
Date published: 13 October 2018
Meet the buyer at Rochdale Town Hall
Local businesses across the borough will get the chance to pitch for business with some of the biggest public sector organisations in Greater Manchester at a special 'meet the buyer' event next month.
The event will give suppliers the chance to speak directly to buyers from companies including STAR procurement, the shared procurement service for Stockport, Trafford, Tameside and Rochdale councils, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, Hopwood Hall College and the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group.
The buyers are on the lookout for a number of different goods and services this year, including construction and demolition work, waste management services, estates management and facilities management.
Meet the Buyer matches the goods and services offered by businesses with the current buying requirements of participating purchasing teams, to ensure supplier businesses meet with those companies actively seeking the service they offer, making the 'pitching' process more efficient.
The event, which is by appointment only, takes place at Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday, 22 November 2018, but businesses who want to get involved will need to register their interest by 5pm on Thursday, 18 October 2018.
Councillor John Blundell, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: "Big organisations like councils have huge buying power and are always looking to keep spend local wherever possible, so this is a great opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses to sell their goods and services on a big stage."
Other goods and services the organisations are looking for this year include IT services, CCTV installation and maintenance and fire detection and suppression systems.
