Cash and carry is exactly what Rochdale needs says Danczuk

Date published: 19 July 2008

Simon Danczuk, Rochdale’s Labour Parliamentary Candidate, attended the opening of Rochdale Cash and Carry and said: “This is exactly the sort of business we need to see in our town. Not only is it going to compete effectively with wholesale firms outside Rochdale, it’s also done a great job in supporting other local businesses.

“The owners of Rochdale Cash and Carry have used local building firms and other local suppliers to get their new business underway; it’s exactly the sort of local procurement we need to boost our economy. I’m also pleased to learn that council officers and other public bodies have been very helpful in supporting the new venture get started. It’s this sort of cooperation and support I want to hear more of in our town.

“I’m sure this cash and carry can go a long way in serving the needs of local shops, restaurants and other retailers. It’s much more local, the variety of products is very impressive and the range is extensive. They are creating more local jobs in the heart of our communities; I wish them all the best for this new venture.”
