Claire’s US bankruptcy does not affect the Rochdale store
Date published: 22 March 2018
Speculation has arisen regarding the future of the Claire’s store in Rochdale after the parent company in the US filed for bankruptcy protection.
Earlier this month, the popular accessory retailer, which has a store in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, became another retailer to fall to the crisis afflicting the high street.
The company behind Claire’s, formerly known as Claire’s Accessories, filed for bankruptcy ion the US to attempt to reduce its debt by $1.9b US.
Despite the latest announcements and speculation that UK stores will close, the retailer has assured UK customers that its operations in the UK will continue to trade from all 378 stores, including Rochdale, as its international subsidiaries are not part of the US filings.
