Independent survey finds patients would recommend BMI The Highfield Hospital to family and friends

Date published: 06 March 2018

Feedback from patients at BMI The Highfield Hospital in Rochdale has shown that 98.7% of those who received care there would recommend the hospital to their family and friends.

In addition, 94.3% agree that the quality of their nursing care was very good or excellent and 96.5% would apply the same high rating to the standard of their accommodation.

The figures for the independent hospital in Rochdale were the findings of the independent survey operator Quality Health, which analysed responses of 2563 patients who responded to a questionnaire between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017.

Mr Aslam Chougle, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon says “I have been practising as an orthopaedic surgeon at BMI The Highfield Hospital since December 2006.

"There have been numerous changes over the years but the one thing that has not changed is the professional attitude of all members of staff which is completely patient focused. The standard of care provided to patients is of the highest calibre from all members of the staff which include theatres, wards and allied specialities. The theatre team especially are extremely well trained and will routinely go out of their way to ensure that patients get the best possible care. Members of the management team have always been accommodating in ensuring that clinics and lists run smoothly despite the day-to-day pressures associated with any busy hospital.

"Over the years operating at Highfield has been an experience that I have always looked forward to and will continue to do so in the future.”

The figures have been well received by the 278 staff who work at the hospital and who provide care for NHS-funded patients, insured patients and those who choose to pay for themselves.

Over the past year, the hospital has increased the number of consultants practising at the hospital covering different specialities seeing both private and NHS patients. The hospital is now a centre for cosmetic surgery with five specialist consultants offering a variety of cosmetic procedures.  The hospital also provides General Medical Admissions with a team of experienced team who can provide around the clock medical care for a broad range of conditions and illnesses.

The independent survey also showed high percentage scores across all assessed criteria, with ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ for physiotherapy 99.4%, pharmacy 94.6%, and catering 91.5%. In addition, 97.3% said that their overall impression of diagnostic imaging was very good or excellent.

Quality Health also provides the same survey analysis and questions across the NHS.
