Cartoonist Tony Husband shared deeply personal experience at breakfast event

Date published: 10 November 2017

Tony Husband, a professional cartoonist who has worked for many leading publications, shared his moving and deeply personal experience of supporting his father - suffered from dementia for many years before he died - at a Molesworth breakfast event.

Using cartoons from his book, 'Take Care, Son: The Story of My Dad and his Dementia', he provided a vivid insight into the often sad, sometimes humorous, but always emotionally challenging burden of caring for an ageing parent suffering from dementia.

Pete Yarwood, CEO of Red Rose Recovery, delivered a mesmerising account of how, after 20 years spent in the darkest recesses of Salford’s drug sub-culture and the criminal justice system, he met a stranger who saw potential in him, became his mentor and inspired him to take a part-time job, study for a degree, and then work his way up to become CEO.

Mr Yarwood and his colleagues at Red Rose Recovery are dedicated to helping people who have “fallen out of the nest” by building recovery systems through peer support networks.
