Aquacheck Engineering shortlisted for top supplier award
Aquacheck Engineering Ltd., an engineering business based in Rochdale, has been shortlisted as one of the top three suppliers to one of the UK’s major water suppliers, Severn Trent Water.
Aquacheck Engineering is a supplier of precision-engineered components for the water industry. They specialise in the manufacture of back flow prevention devices and water tools. In addition to the standard product range, Aquacheck Engineering offer a bespoke product service, and Managing Director, Paul Carrington believes that this is what has led to the business being shortlisted for the award.
Mr Carrington said: "We have embraced new technology. 3D printers enable us to produce samples and prototypes in a few days, something that would have taken weeks a few years ago. That let’s us work with customers to produce bespoke items in short lead times.”
Ian Mitchell, Fittings & Regulations Manager, Severn Trent Water, agreed: “If I was to use one word to describe the benefit of working with a SME like Aquacheck Engineering, it would be ‘adaptability’. They have been in the industry for years and know the challenges on the investment front. They listen to our issue and translated it into a working piece of kit, ready for trial, within a couple of weeks. Larger companies find it more difficult to be so responsive.”
Aquacheck Engineering has worked with Severn Trent Water to provide a number of specially designed products to meet the water company’s specific needs. The most recent of which is a ‘SafeGuard’ Boundary Box Filter.
Mr Carrington told us: “Severn Trent Water has been looking to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their working practices.
“We have worked with their staff to develop a new water filter that fits into a Boundary Box (where a property’s water meter is normally located).
“By using the ‘SafeGuard’ Filter, Severn Trent Water no longer have to dig holes in the road or pavement to fit a filter, and the reusable unit can be fitted in hours instead of days or weeks.
“Each time they use a ‘SafeGuard’ Filter, Severn Trent Water is saving over £2,000.
“The team are looking forward to the awards evening in November.”
“It is great to know that Severn Trent Water consider us to be one of their top three suppliers, but it would be the icing on the cake to know we are the best.”
