Kats Dance Academy expands over two sites

Date published: 10 October 2017

Heywood-based Kats Dance Academy has added a new chapter to its remarkable success story.

Having recently relocated its upper dance academy, for children aged six to 15, to Sandon House on Taylor Street, its lower academy will continue to operate from its existing base at Siddal Moor School.

The move has been brought about by the ever-increasing number of young people who want to take up dance and progress through the program.

Kats Dance Academy owner, Michelle Fradley, said: “The move to Sandon House allows us to continue to expand and at the same time provide our young dancers with one-to-one tuition and support. Sandon is the perfect base for our upper academy, it is a great location with excellent facilities.”

Since starting the first classes back in 2011, the dance school has seen hundreds of local children take part in weekly dance classes.

Michelle continued: “The success of the school is down to the support shown by all the children and their parents over the years. Our profile has also been raised by working in partnership with Blue Rose Gifts at Heywood town events, like the Charities Fête and Christmas lights switch on, something which allows us to put back into the community.”

Kats Dance Academy is currently planning its awards day in December, when all the lower academy and senior dancers will receive their awards having all passed this year’s exams: the seniors class achieved ‘Highly Commended’ or ‘Honours’.

The proceeds from the event will be given to the Heywood food bank, which Kats has supported on numerous occasions.
