Sport4Real, a new sports clothing shop, has opened in Rochdale town centre after moving from Middleton.
Owner Sam Green says he made the swap because he sees the centre as a busy location in an up-and-coming area.
As well as selling leading brands of sports clothing and equipment, his Cheetham Street shop also operates a printing and embroidery business; creating a one-stop shop for sporting gear.
Council leader Richard Farnell said: “This is yet another indication that our town centre is on the up.
“More and more small, independent businesses are starting to realise that Rochdale is the place to be for your fledgling company.
"Our innovative business rates discount scheme is proving extremely popular in attracting new shops to the town; long may it continue.”
