Deli Place cooking up a storm

Date published: 04 May 2017

Naim Iltaf is cooking up a storm at his new business, the Deli Place, in The Walk.

The new business venture, opened a short time ago, is open Monday to Saturday offering freshly made wraps, paninis, kebabs, pasta plus much, much more at cheap prices.

Mr Iltaf took advantage of the council's business rates discount scheme- an 80% discount in the first year and a further two years’ discounts – which aims to help new independent traders set up shop.

Mr Iltaf said: “The town centre continues to improve all the time. It’s looking so fresh and modern with the tram and bus stations, and the rest of the work going on in the centre. The new paving which goes up Yorkshire Street and includes The Walk is really starting to take shape.

“I’m really looking forward to the increased footfall which will inevitably come when the new market opens on The Butts."

Council leader Councillor Richard Farnell said: “It is always heart-warming to listen to success stories like Naim’s. Our policy of helping new businesses set up shop in our town centres is really starting to pay dividends. Long may it continue.”

Town Centre Manager Mark Foxley said: “The Council has invested hundreds of millions of pounds into the town centre to make it a destination of choice for discerning shoppers, but that will only work if we have a retail offer which people want. Niam’s brilliant business fits that mould perfectly.”
