Legal action against James Coates Bros Ltd of Middleton

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority have won a Court action against James Coates Bros Ltd, Lodge Mill, Townley Street, Middleton who pleaded guilty to breaking fire safety law.
On 1st March 2006 at Rochdale Magistrates, James Coates Bros Ltd, the landlord of Lodge Mill, a four storey building with several occupiers, pleaded guilty to failing to maintain the fire alarm system, which put occupants in danger if a fire had occurred. The Magistrates fined the company £700 and awarded Fire and Rescue Authority £1400 for full costs.
The Senior Fire Safety Officer, Simon Hunt said “the safety of the community from fire is our primary concern. Whilst we would like to achieve this by working with business, if employers and others do not take their responsibilities seriously then the Fire and Rescue Authority will take Court action.
