Simon Danczuk backing town’s high streets
Date published: 23 February 2017
Simon Danczuk, Rochdale’s MP, is backing small businesses on Rochdale’s high streets.
He recently visited Cakes n’ Shakes, a new business on Dale Street, Milnrow, specialising in a wide selection of fresh ice cream and custom-made milkshakes.
Mr Danczuk said: “Cakes n’ Shakes is a fantastic and highly popular business which clearly has an exciting future ahead of it. It is a valuable addition to Milnrow’s high street and I wish it the best of success.”
Cakes n’ Shakes is just one shop of many along Dale Street, including a butchers, takeaways and pubs, that all contribute to a thriving high street.
Mr Danczuk said: “The high street is the heart of the community. Our strong businesses are an excellent reason why Rochdale is a place where people should choose to live and work. But they need our backing. It’s not just about individual shops.
"I will be visiting a range of high streets and shopping parades across Rochdale to highlight the essential role they play in providing jobs and celebrate the contribution they make to our town’s community spirit.
"Vibrant high streets are essential to any town, by providing local jobs, safe streets and a unique shopping and leisure experience.
“Rochdale has a lot to offer. Working with the Council, we have a proven track record of supporting local enterprise and increasing business rate returns for our area. There are great shops, pubs and cafes across the constituency, many of which I am a regular customer at. I firmly believe that this vibrant local economy is worth protecting, and I will do everything I can to see it grow."
