Meet the buyer

Date published: 30 January 2006

Businesses in the Rochdale area will have the opportunity to sell their products and services direct to buyers from large organisations at the Made in Rochdale Exhibition to be held at the Town Hall on 7 March between 11am and 7pm.

Buyers from organisations such as Rochdale Council, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Bolton Council and others will be taking space at the Made in Rochdale event with the specific purpose of sourcing new local suppliers for products and services, ranging from floor covering to ironmongery and signage to heating and ventilation and electrical installations. Meet the Buyer will run on an appointment-based system giving sellers the chance to discuss their product or service face-to-face with the relevant buyer.

The Meet the Buyer event will run alongside the Made in Rochdale Exhibition, organised by Rochdale Women’s Enterprise Network to showcase the range of goods and services of their members.  Visitors will have the chance to buy goods not normally available in the shops, see live product displays, meet their perfect match at the networking corner, as well as present in person to the buyers. Keynote speaker will be Nighat Awan  OBE, the highly successful entrepreneur and community figure, who has overcome a number of personal challenges and life threatening illnesses to position the Shere Khan Group as a global brand in the food and restaurant business.

Barbara Davidson of the Rochdale Women’s Enterprise Initiative said, ”meet the buyer events can save suppliers a huge amount of time and expense. Buyers are coming along with the express purpose of finding new suppliers.

Many of our exhibitors will be running special show offers, giving away samples, staging live events and selling gifts on the day.  It should be a lively and stimulating event with plenty of chances to network, sell and buy.”
