Submit your Burdensome Regulations to Government

Date published: 07 December 2005

Gary Lau of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local chamber members to submit examples of poor regulations.

The Government has stated its commitment to reduce the burden of regulation on business, in response to which the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has launched a Chamber wide online database for businesses to submit examples of burdensome regulations. These case studies will then be submitted to the appropriate Government departments. The Government has confirmed that they will investigate each example individually and work to take specific action to make improvements.

Gary says: "The problem of regulatory burden is one of our key Presidential themes for the forthcoming year. Over-regulation is one of the biggest issues adversely affecting member companies and the Greater Manchester Chamber will be specifically focusing on the issue. Below is a link to a short online form asking for case study examples of poor regulations. Employers' responses when submitted online will be sent to a BCC electronic database and then communicated directly with the Government. This is a real opportunity for Chamber members to make a difference and reduce the cost and time of complying with burdensome regulations.

"We would be very grateful if you would complete and submit the form by following this link. Please note that this is an ongoing process with no specific deadline."
