North West Halal food provider gains recognition at the EMBS Business Awards 2005.

Rochdale based company, Mann-Salwa - which specialises in providing Halal sandwich buffets to office meetings, parties, special events and retail outlets won two awards at the Ethnic Minority Business Services (EMBS) Business Awards 2005.

Hundreds of business owners plus VIP's piled into the Town Hall for the prestigious ceremony, including Mayor of Rochdale Ashley Dearnley, the Lord Mayor of Manchester Afzal Khan and the Mayor of Blackburn VusufJan Varnmani.

Mann-Salwa was presented with the Best Food Provider Award for 2005, whilst co-founder Nasima Mughal won the Business Woman of the Year Award.

The awards are in recognition for the extraordinary growth the family based business has experienced since it began trading only eighteen months ago.

Mann-Salwa which means 'Heavenly Taste' in Arabic, was established by Nasima Mughal, Asia Ejaz, Kashaf Ahmad, and Anwar Mughal, to meet the growing demand of quality Halal food at office buffets and events across the North West. A passion for food coupled with strong service values has enabled Mann-Salwa to meet the buffet and office lunch demands of a wide range of clientele across the borough.

Nasima Mughal said: "For office workers and travellers, the range of Halal food was largely limited to vegetarian dishes. In a multicultural society, we believed that both British and Asian professionals were missing out on delicious alternatives at meetings and events. We decided to change that, and we have been overwhelmed with the response,"

Mann-Salwa not only offers sandwich buffets, but it has also incorporated Asian savouries such as samosas, kebabs and spring rolls into its menus. The company also offers curry dishes and home-made desserts.

What makes the company unique is that the production environment is Halal as well as the ingredients, and this has enabled Mann-Salwa to provide a service to the community that other buffet companies find difficult to accommodate.

The company now supplies Asian, Mediterranean and traditionally British sandwich buffets to some of the biggest names in the North West, as well as operating a chilled sandwiche service to retail outlets. The company also supplies newsagents, petrol stations and convenience stores across Lancashire and Yorkshire with Halal sandwiches, pasta tubs and snacks. As well as a telephone service, clients can view the company web site (www.mann-salwa.com) which lists the menus available and can be used to order buffets. The demand for the quality snacks has even led to the company offering breakfast and dinner options.

Mann-Salwa is constantly looking for new food ideas and the passion for supplying good food has never been stronger. "The whole team has worked very hard and the awards are a great boost. However, nothing feels better than the heart warming comments we receive from satisfied customers and the empty trays we get back are a bonus," said Asia Ejaz.
