Work on the new ‘JD Gyms Rochdale’, in the building formerly occupied by Littlewoods in The Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, is now nearing completion and the £1.5m fitness facility will open on 12 May.
The fully air-conditioned gym will include more than 200 pieces of the industry’s best cardio, strength and functional fitness equipment. The venue will also boast saunas, a sprint track, prowler track and the area’s largest free weights area. A large studio and spin studio will play host to over 250 classes a month, all of which are included in the membership.
JD Gyms Rochdale will see the creation of 15 jobs and will cater for those wishing to exercise during the hours of 6am – 10pm weekdays and 8am-8pm on Saturday and Sundays. Gym goers will receive two hours’ free parking.
Having recently been named as Budget Gym of the Year at a national awards ceremony, the JD Gyms chain, part of JD Sports Fashion Group, is adding style and quality to the budget gym market.
Alun Peacock, Managing Director of JD Gyms, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing a brand new, low cost gym with a difference to Rochdale. We’ll be offering exceptional fitness facilities, an unrivalled class timetable, luxury surroundings and saunas in a convenient location on a highly affordable basis. Feedback and interest has been excellent so far – a gym of this calibre in Rochdale has been a long time coming and we cannot wait to open the doors.”
Lorenzo O’Reilly, Centre Manger for The Rochdale Exchange, said he was looking forward to the opening of the gym in May: “We have a terrific mix of retailers and services at the centre and it’s fantastic that we can now add JD Gyms to that. They’ve built an excellent reputation as a quality, stylish and affordable place to exercise.
“The new facility is going to be a great addition to the centre. I’m delighted that together we can offer something out of the ordinary to our customers and the people of Rochdale.”
