The owner of Little Lamb’s children’s store has spoken of her distress after discovering that her shop is the latest to be ransacked by burglars.

The shop on Hunters Lane was broken into overnight (Tuesday 5 – Wednesday 6 April) as the thieves cut through barbed wire fencing and kicked the back door through to gain access to the shop.

Distraught owner Rebecca McCormick estimates that £6,000 worth of stock was taken, including children’s clothing and footwear.

She said: “It seems clear that what they wanted was my stock, they took enough of it, but they left my iPad behind which I thought was odd.

“At the moment everything is all over the place because we have to wait for the police forensics to come in, so we can’t go back in until that has happened.

“It’s awful to think that this is going on so much around Rochdale – it has to stop.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called to the premises on Hunters Lane at 8.20 this morning after a burglary had taken place.

“It appears whoever did this cut through some barbed wire fencing to gain access to the building. Mainly the items that were taken were children’s clothing.

"We would urge anyone with information to contact the police.”
