On Track Dog Training Club is the first Inter-Club Obedience Champions

Date published: 25 February 2016

The many weeks the advanced classes at On Track Dog Training Club trained for the first inter-club obedience competition, held in Greenfield, paid off when the club became the champions.

Four teams from the North West took part, Northern Alsatian and All Breeds Training Society, Newton Heath Dog Training Society, On Track Dog Training School and Chadkirk Dog Training Society.

Each club chose three handler dog teams to compete in each of the three different classes making a total of nine handler dog teams from each club.

Cath Phillips from On Track Dog Training School said: "I couldn’t be more proud as I watched each of our teams enter the ring. The enthusiasm and keenness of our dogs was a thrill to watch and most importantly tails were wagging at the start and still wagging at the end. A truly enjoyable day for all.

"We only had one slip up when Tintin and small Parsons Jack Russell Terrier decided to race out of the ring and go round the audience saying hello to everyone.

"However, the rest of the dogs hardly put a paw wrong so I knew we had done quite well so it was a tense time waiting for all the scores to be added up and the presentation to get underway.

"There were rosettes for first, second and third in each class for individuals and in addition every dog’s points were added up to find the team result.

"Marie and Talle (cocker spaniel) got a third and Roz and Toby (Border Collie) also got a third in their class.

"Joanne and Penny (Collie and Labrdor) won beginners

"In the novice results, first Aimee and Tink (Rottweiler), second Joanne and Abbey (Labrador) and third Emily and Jasper (Border Collie).

"The most incredible gasp and cheer came when the judge and organisers gave the final announcement that On Track Dog Training School were the overall winners."
