Spotland & Falinge Ward
May I take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have been involved in voluntary work in the local community for nearly 30 years:- helping to run Greave Community Base, children’s play schemes and other community events. I have a very good insight into what is involved in representing the people of this Ward – My wife, Barbara, has been your Councillor for 13 Years, so I have an excellent tutor!
My work in the community is very important to me and I like to think that I have been involved and understand a lot of outside agency’s work within the community.
I want to represent you as an Independent without a political party dictating my actions! In other words the only people I will be working for are you the Constituents.
I am pleased to have been selected to stand as candidate for the Independent Alliance and hope that you will support me in the May elections.
Some of the good news for Spotland and Falinge Ward at the moment is that the old Dexine and Alexander Drew sites have both received full planning permission to re-develop. The site of the Innes Centre on Ings lane has also received planning permission to re-develop the land. I welcome these eyesores being worked on. Other good news for the Ward is the ongoing fight against Ding Quarry. The thought of work starting again and the amount of large lorries driving up and down this ward causing untold damage to the roads, properties and danger to all, causes me a great deal of concern.
The kick pitch and play area on Greave will be undergoing a face lift in the next few weeks. Many thanks to RBH for this. It was needed due to 14 years of pleasurable and hard use by all. While I'm mentioning Community Centres, I am looking forward to seeing Spotland Community Centre being revived. Good luck to all those involved in this.
If you support me in the coming Election on 5th May, my commitment to you the voters will be 100%. I will listen to your concerns and do my very best to resolve them. I don't makes promises I can`t keep.
