Littleborough Lakeside Ward
I am an older gentleman who was born in our lovely village now a small town and raised a large family of five children here.
I attended our local schools as did our children
Upon leaving school I worked at the local Co-operative Society where I learned my people skills. The customer must always leave the store feeling satisfied with their visit.
I eventually joined the Police and having first served in Rochdale Borough then Lancashire and ultimately GMP, I at one period was a local Littleborough Bobby.
Policing gives you the ultimate experience's in life. From children going missing from home, suicides, burglaries accidents the range of incidents that you attend is never ending.
Each is different and you as the attending police officer are expected to be the one who sorts it out.
These experiences gave me the confidence to leave the police and in 1978 I came up with the idea of providing a medical repatriation service with a long distance private ambulance service.
The repatriation service was born .
Road ambulance to and from Europe.
I was tasked with the transportation and security of Louise Brown and her mother. Within a few weeks, we repatriated a man from Benidorm overland to Halifax. Job done meant that the low profile ambulance were frequently seen on European roads.
I then introduced air ambulances to Manchester and medical in flight escorts going all over the world.
I retired in 2003 but after a while, after doing fundraising for many years, community came to the fore and I have been involved in local affairs ever since
A frequent Facebook poster I will have my say and question anything that has a affect on our community.
Most recently I have questioned the SPD for Victoria Street and Hare Hill Road.
I am also a member of an 86,000 strong group that will stop the Ludicrous 500 square miles emissions tax zone that the Mayoral office and combined authorities are trying to impose on an area with already accept air quality readings.
I will listen. If I can I will deal with any concerns that you may have. If I cannot I will not promise something that I cannot provide.
I will consult.
I will not talk down to you or tell you what you are getting.
I will be honest with you.
In my spare time I am a volunteer at Moor End Trust Hare Hill House where we are successfully turning a semi derilict building into a successful community, arts and enterprise hub.
Having realised that we needed a facility for men who had been bereaved or were isolated or just needing to socialise I came up with a idea to provide a group solely for such.
Thus the Blokes at Hare House was formed three years ago.
From twelve on the first day(we expected six or so) the numbers after covid are rising again and we are at mid thirties each week already.
I must thank the community for your continuing support for this group.
I paint, dabble in ceramic sculpture, write short stories and poetry.
I have a very active mind and observe local governance very closely and as a member of the Civic Trust will do what is best for Littleborough.
I will be one of the three conservative candidates for Littleborough and Lakeside along with two other very worthy candidates.
