Local Election 2016

Liberal Democrat Party
Balderstone & Kirkholt Ward

I have chosen to stand in my old ward of Balderstone and Kirkholt because during my last term I got to know many residents and I already have a good understanding of their issues.

I have seen for myself the problems the residents of Kirkholt have when trying to catch a bus to work or school in the mornings. I will campaign to ensure that the bus company understand that Kirkholt estate needs a full sized bus because it is ridiculous that one of the biggest housing estates in the North should be neglected in this way.

I have already identified pot holes on many roads including Queen Victoria St. I have reported these to the highways department and insisted that they be treated as a priority.

The people of Broad Lane and Craiglands have endured a constant threat of flooding ever since the building of houses on land already identified as a flood plain.

I will first of all demand to know why the surveyor promised by the present councillors has still not been appointed.

Secondly, I feel that the granting of planning permission for these houses despite the well documented opposition should be re-examined.

I along with the other Liberal Democrat councillors of the day supported the residents in fighting this and it saddens me that this development was given the green light.

I have looked back at decisions taken by Richard Farnell and the Labour Council and it both saddens and infuriates me to see that there has been no opposition from the Conservatives who are the largest party in opposition.

They need to be sent packing.

The Conservatives are hopeless and are in it for the status and provide no opposition.

No opposition means that the council has become a dictatorship.

This needs to change.

If I am elected to the council I believe that it will be my duty to work for the good of not only my ward but for the whole of the Borough.
