The MAD Theatre Company – No Trumps Please
Date published: 12 September 2009
No Trumps Please, a Milnrow Amateur Dramatic (MAD) Society performance has been running for four nights at Milnrow Parish School with tonight (Saturday 12 September) the final night. The play, written by MAD member Jon Comyn-Platt and directed by David Fielding, is a typical middle class farce but none the worse for that.
The scene is the lounge of Peter and Maggie Bagshaw, played consumately by Jon Comyn-Platt and Jane Jeffery; part of a capable cast with a blend of youth and experience.
The hilarity was well pitched and provided excellent entertainment for an eager audience.
Founder of MAD Maragert Hopkinson said: “This is our fourth night and though we only had a small audience the first night, Thursday and Friday were packed out and there is a good size audience in tonight.”
Asked how long it took to put everything together and get the play ready, Margaret explained that rehearsals had been taking place for two months and scenery and props had been being made and obtained during that time – MAD put together all their own props and scenery and apart from the occasional grant are funded through ticket sales.
