Hamer Community Primary School
Date published: 28 May 2012
On Friday 25th May the children from both schools completed the last section of our year of performing arts. The theme for this section was ‘singing’. The children performed playground songs and rhymes and all the classes came together at 1.30pm in the Hamer playground for a fantastic performance. The children from both schools joined in, played games and used musical instruments they had made themselves. If was amazing to see so many children performing and the sunshine made it a perfect scene.
For the week ending 25th May the winners of the Good Citizens Award are the Hamer Dance Group for an excellent performance of their dance recital at the ‘Playhouse 2’ in Shaw. Well done!
Well done to Mrs. Terry’s class who are the winners of the best attendance award for the week ending 25th May 2012.
There was a special treat for the school admin staff recently, when children from Year 3 and 4 performed their poem especially for them. The poem – The Smugglers Song by Rudyard Kipling – was very popular with its audience and the children’s animated performance showed how much they had learnt about the days of Smugglers and King George’s Men.
We would like to thank those parents who have sent their children into school with sun cream on and with sun hats. It is vital during this period of hot weather that you continue to do this as we will be taking full advantage of our fabulous facilities and using our outside space as much as possible as an extended teaching space.
I would also like to remind you that we are more than happy during this weather for you to send your child to school in sensible flat sandals. We do ask that these are either grey or black as our children look so smart in their uniforms.
