Mayfield strolled through to the second round of the Oldham Standard Cup on Sunday with a comprehensive victory over Fitton Hill.
Coaches Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth left themselves and several other regular players out of the team but they were still far too strong for the opposition.
The gulf in class was obvious from the start and it took only a couple of minutes for the Rochdale side to open their account as Andy Taylor crossed for a try.
The scores came thick and fast after that with some great tries among them.
By half time Mayfield had run in 50 points and their opponents were in shock.
The coaches made several change throughout the game and all players got a good run.
Lewis Butterworth made a strong contribution, on his debut in open age rugby, grabbing two tries and having a hand in several others. Other players to impress were Billy Percy, Declan Sheridan and Seta Tala.
Mayfield try scorers: Andy Taylor 3, Dec Sheridan, Lewis Butterworth, Seta Tala, Dave Wood 2, Komai Nualamatua, John Marsland Nick Hargreaves.
Mayfield goal kicking: Tom Lavis, John Marsland and Craig White.
