Rochdale Swarm face local rivals Oldham
Date published: 12 June 2008
The Rochdale Swarm face local rivals Oldham on Saturday with a 2.15pm Kick Off at Firgrove, in the second leg of the supporters teams Tag Rugby League Challenge.
The Oldham Supporters hold a slender 8 points lead from the first leg after winning 46-38, but the Swarm are determined to over turn the deficit and take the spoils and bragging rights in this return fixture.
The Swarm have been badly affected by injuries and work commitments in the run up to the game, losing star player Zahoor Ahmed through work and several players with niggling injuries, but coach David Ramsbottom is confident that the depth of the Swarm squad is enough to put on a good show and hopefully amend the earlier defeat.
All Swarm players are asked to meet at Firgrove on Saturday at 1.30pm.
It's been a busy few weeks for the Swarm, which has included TV filming a piece about the fledgling club, interviewing several players. Also the Swarm picked up its first sponsor this week when Ian Bamford from Bamford Transport donated a large amount of training equipment to the Hornets supporters team in a gesture greatly appreciated by all at the Swarm.
Swarm Team Captain Scott Manock said: "We would like to thank Ian for his generosity, as a new club we are well aware how hard it is to get things up and running and assistance like this helps immensely".
