Darren Shaw appointed coach of Rochdale Hornets

Date published: 03 June 2008

Darren Shaw has been appointed as coach of Rochdale Hornets.

The 36-year-old Australian, who was a member of the Sheffield Eagles 1998 Challenge Cup-winning team, takes over from Bobbie Goulding, who parted company with the club earlier this week after a run of five successive defeats.

Hornets Chief Executive Peter Whitehead said: “The board are very pleased that Darren has joined the club and we’re looking forward to the future.”

Shaw, who has been given a contract to the end of the 2009 season, resigned as manager at League One Leigh in April.

He is a former player at Rochdale and was assistant coach during Goulding's first spell at the club.
