Members of the Full Contact Performance Centre had another successful weekend last week securing a number of wins.
Professional cage fighter Martin Stapleton stepped back into the octagon in front of a home crowd on Saturday 21 June and claimed his 13th professional victory. He said: “It was a good fight and it was good to be back fighting again in the UK. Even though it was in Bolton we had about 300 people from Rochdale come along and support me so that was nice.”
Martin secured the victory against Stanislav Enchev in the first round winning by a guillotine.
Also on Saturday, Adam Hussain went on to win his MMA debut by submission in the first round.
Martin said: “He had a lot of messing around with his opponent in the build up to the fight and for a debut fight that is a lot of nerves for someone to handle but he did well and we are very pleased with the win.”
The Full Contact Performance Centre Judo team won five gold medals at a competition in Wilmslow on Sunday 22 June. The centre has been teaching Judo since it opened and is now the only Judo club in the North West to hold four current regional champions.
Martin said: “It is another good accolade for the club to hold and is something we are really pleased with.”
Winners at the judo competition were:
- Kiaran Sturrock - Gold medal.
- Louise Birchall – secured a gold medal after just 10 months at FCPC.
- Kriss Hubbard – Gold medal.
- Wayne Rorston – Silver medal.
- Neil Spence – Bronze medal.
- Rob Aston – Two gold medals.
These latest wins add to a successful six months for the Full Contact performance Centre.
“We are coming up to half way through the year for our competitions now and we are doing really well. We are really pleased and we have another four fighters competing in MMA competitions in two weeks so hopefully we can continue with the winning streak and keep going from strength to strength,” said Martin.
