Hopwood Hall College Football Academy - Greater Manchester County Schools Under-19s FA Cup Champions
Hopwood Hall College Football Academy have won the Greater Manchester County Schools Under-19s FA Cup.
The final, against Oldham Sixth Form College, was held at Wright Robinson School on their new pitch.
The game was hotly anticipated, as both sides had previously been named champions of their respective leagues: Hopwood are recent winners of the ECFA North West title and Oldham the victors in the North West Colleges League.
Both teams put on a great performance, but Hopwood won 4-1.
Hopwood Coach, Rob Johnson said: “I’m very proud of my lads, it’s a great achievement completing a league and cup double and in the manner and style of football we’ve played all season.”
Terry Morley, Centre Director for Sport and Public Services at the College added: "The football academy grows from strength-to-strength and this is down to the excellent coaching and development by lead coach Rob Johnson and his coaching team of Scott Hardy and Keith Cliffe.”
