At the NCL game on Friday 9 May Mayfield play at Eccles. On Saturday 10 May Mayfield NWML side face Leigh Miners at the Mayfield Sports Centre.

In the away fixture in March Miners just managed to edge out an under strength Mayfield side who had travelled with 14 fit players.

Coaches Dunc Simpson and Anthony Greaves were delighted with the performance on the day and were convinced it was only the extra numbers that gave the home side the advantage.

Saturday should be a different story with several new signings since then and some excellent coaching sessions under their belts Mayfield will be going all out for the win.

“Miners are a good side and we will not be underestimating them,” said Simpson. “If we are to come out of this game with two points we will have to put in our best performance of the season.

“They have only lost one game so far but we know that we will have the quality in the side that could see us edge this one.

“The new signings plus the addition of the youngsters who have stepped up have made it a pleasure to be coaching this side.

“Training is going well and we are reaping the benefits.”
