The Rochdale Online Alliance Football League’s President’s Cup Final takes place this Saturday at Mayfield Sports Centre in Castleton, the home of Rochdale Town FC.

Fothergill & Whittles 2nds and Sudden FC, title winners and runners up in the Matthew Montgomery & Co First Division respectively, contest a final that kicks off at 2.00pm.

Both teams have been virtually untouchable in the league this season, Fothergills, with an amazing one hundred and forty four goals from twenty one games, and Sudden, piecing together fourteen wins and a draw in fifteen games from September to March.

In the early rounds of the cup Fothergills overcame Rochdale Galaxy 9-1 and Chadderton Park 6-1, whilst Sudden defeated Wardle OB 5-1 before receiving a bye in the second round.

The third round of this competition heralds the entry of the Premier Division sides but that certainly did not phase Fothergills as they promptly removed Star Athletic 7-1 and Rochdale Sacred Heart 7-0 before their most impressive scalp of all – champions Balderstone, crushed 6-1 in the semi final at Firgrove.

Sudden have also put out three higher ranked sides in King William IV 3-2, Fothergill & Whittles 1sts on penalties, and then Whitworth Valley 3-2, after being two goals down at half time.

Head-to- head stats favour the Littleborough outfit, as they came out on top in both league games between the two, but cup finals are rarely decided by the form book and a close contest is expected.

Admission prices are £2 for adults and £1 for children and OAPs, with refreshments available.
