Mayfield Preview

Date published: 01 May 2014

Mayfield NCL have no fixture on Saturday.

The NWML side take centre stage as they entertain Widnes West Bank at the Mayfield Sports Centre.

Mayfield, fresh from last week's emphatic quarter final cup win against Accrington, will be buzzing as they take the field.

The side has gone from strength to strength under the direction of Dunc Simpson and Anthony Greaves and has just signed a couple of useful players to give them the depth of squad they have looked for this season.

"More players means more competition for places which in turn means greater effort at training and on the field. This can only be good for the side and we hope to reap the benefits," said Simpson.

West Bank have had a slow start to the season but are looking forward to what is always a ‘tasty’ clash against Mayfield.

Their lowly league position belies some of their performances, which have been very strong with only their defence letting them down, conceding 200 points in six games.

Mayfield will be out to exploit this with some powerful forward play coupled to an exciting back line.

Two points from this game could see Mayfield move up the table and begin a push for a top three spot come the end of the season.

Fixtures: 3 April 2014
NWML Div Two: Mayfield v Widnes West Bank - kick off 2.30pm
