Date published: 29 April 2014
This weekend saw a rerun of the recent league match with Shawclough U10's Thunder V Soccer Village Greens U10's.
In the first half Shawclough led 1-0 but Soccer Village have great determination and found a couple of quick goals in the second half leaving Shawclough's cup defence hanging by a thread.
In the dying minutes Shawclough's Danyal Johnson weaved in and out of the opposition to get through to the six yard box and buried an equaliser that took the game to penalties.
Shawclough's goalkeeper Alex Cockerill saved all three Soccer Village shots and with goals from captain Joshua Warrener, Joshua Smith and Taylor Wilson, Shawclough went through to the next round - they meet Whitemoss Under 10s.
Shawclough manager, Eugene Warrener said after the game: "The players all played out of their skins, I am honoured to coach these children.
"We were lucky to secure sponsorship from Ruchie on Whitworth Road and hope to be paying back their generosity."
