Muavia Nasim to compete on behalf of Queensway ABC

Date published: 25 April 2014

Junior boxer Muavia Nasim will compete in his first competition on Wednesday 30 April after training with Queensway Amateur Boxing Club.

Muavia has been training with David Hodkinson at the club for three months.

David, who is an experienced amateur boxer, said: “Muavia is already at a level similar to boys with years of experience. As a coach the last thing I would do is put any of my fighters in to compete if I thought they weren’t ready. However Muavia has shown great development in such a short period of time.”

Queensway ABC, who train in the Full Contact Performance Centre on Queensway, recently became an ABA affiliated club and now joins a number of other affiliated amateur boxing clubs in Rochdale.

David added: “It has been a long journey and has taken nearly two years to be granted affiliation.”

Queensway ABC currently has three ABA affiliated coaches.

“Having boxed all of my life this is a very exciting time and the start of a new journey where I can pass on my knowledge to the future
generation of fighters coming through and sit on the other side of the ropes guiding as we go,” said David.
