Volunteering into Football
Date published: 04 May 2008
Will you be watching the European Championships this summer wishing the England was there?
Well, if you’re 16-24 years old and have a keen interest in football, a new sports initiative will give you the chance to get involved and perhaps improve our game at the grassroots level!
The ‘Volunteering into Football’ project, which will offer young people the opportunity to get involved in volunteering (via football), is being launched in Rochdale.
The project will run from May to August and will form part of a major volunteering initiative throughout the Rochdale borough. It is funded by the V Project and administered by Link4life and RoFTRA on behalf of CVS.
The project will provide opportunities for young people to become qualified leaders/coaches and deliver a range of football related activities throughout the summer.
A football leader’s course will start in May for approximately four weeks. It will be led by Lee Murphy, an experienced football coach who has been involved in football in Rochdale for over 15 years. There will be an option to enrol on the FA Level1 Certificate in Coaching Football at the end of the course.
Volunteers will be involved in the delivery and planning of sessions and tournaments during the school holidays on a number of estates throughout the local community.
For further information about the project, please contact Jennifer Hughes or Lee Murphy.
