Call out for Rochdale AFC mascot ahead of next Fa Cup game

Date published: 16 January 2014

Metrolink, the official travel partner of the Manchester County FA, is on the hunt for a ‘Metrolink Mascot’ to take to the field at the next FA Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday or Macclesfield.

The match, which will take place on Saturday 25 January at home, will see the chosen ‘Metrolink Mascot’ meet and greet the players in the tunnel and walk on to the pitch at the Rochdale FC stadium.

Open to avid football fans, Metrolink is encouraging children from the local area to tell them why they deserve to be considered for the one-off role.

Peter Cushing, Transport for Greater Manchester’s Metrolink Director, said: “As official travel partner of the Manchester County FA, we do our very best to support local communities and get involved in local events, that’s why we’d like to offer this once in a lifetime experience to a young supporter in the Rochdale area.

“Our Rochdale line extension to the town centre is due to open in March 2014 and we’re excited to be able to bring more passengers closer to the action.”

If you know someone who would like the chance to become the ‘Metrolink Mascot’ for the next match, please send their name, age and contact details along with a reason why they deserve the opportunity to Metrolink@bjl.co.uk  and one of our representatives will be in touch if they are chosen.

Deadline for entries is midnight on Monday 20 January.

The selected child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
