Super Under 7s League

Mayfield Under 7s took the short journey to Swinton on Sunday to face Folly Lane in the latest fixture of their debut season in 'The Greatest Game of All'.

Many of the team were 'fresh' from the trip to the previous evenings Super League Grand Final, and attempted to emulate the Warriors and Wolves stars with some elusive running and strong tackling.

Issac Reid capped a great performance in attack and defence with three tries.

Nathan Muir's none stop efforts were rewarded with his first try for Mayfield as he powered through the defence.

Tyler Kenwright got back on the scoresheet when his arcing run and ramrod hand-off created space in the corner.

Vinnie Wainwright and Samuel Ellis took the team forward with each run.

Johnny Joyce only narrowly failed to cross the line on a number of occasions.

Top tackler award went to Nathan Muir but he was pushed all the way by the determined Zac Wood and the ever improving Eliot Hood.

The Man of the Match award went to Jamie Howe, who scored a try as he jinked through the tight defence and made good yards forward with each tackle.

Mayfield host Chorley this Sunday, 10.30am kick off at the Mayfield Sports Centre, Chadwick Lane, Castleton.

Mayfield Under 10s

Mayfield Under 10s continued their string of impressive performances with a hard fought win over a strong Hindley team, eventual overcoming their opponents to run 22-12 winners.

Man of the Match Ben Higginson was in top form leading the way with all four Mayfield tries.

The most impressive moment of the game came when the Hindley full back made a break on the half way line and looked odds on to score until Higginson produced a crunching 'ball and all' tackle to prevent the try.

In a strong team performance, other stand out performers were Josh Cragg, Lee Wilson and Blake Shepperd-Conwell.

The coaches award went to Will Greenwood for excellent defence.
