Mayfield Preview

Date published: 10 October 2013

Mayfield play their final home game of the season at the Mayfield Sports Centre on Saturday. There will be a real party atmosphere at the ground as the team hope to treat the fans to a great show to round the season off at Chadwick Lane.

It’s no understatement to say that Mayfield have had a brilliant second half to the season with twelve wins from the last twelve starts. Promotion, however, looks unlikely with Mayfield needing either St Jude's or Hunslet to drop points, both of which look unlikely. With this in mind Mayfield look to end the season on a high with wins this weekend and away at Jude's next week.

Matt Calland should have a full squad to select from with Matty Moores and Si Moore both reporting back for duty.

The second half performance against Dewsbury in the last game was superb and Calland and Sam Butterworth will be hoping their team can pick up where they left off.

The half back paring of Butterworth and Lewis Sheridan has been a highlight of the last few weeks but one can’t overlook the performance of the pack as a whole. With Todd O’Brien guiding them and Paul Brearley providing the link with the backs they have looked very impressive and Dudley Hill will have a lot on their hands trying to contain the likes of Joe Qanuici, Mark Biggins, Aidan Gleeson and Matty Moores. Once these lads have done the hard graft the backs will step in and take the plaudits as they exploit the gaps.

In the sponsors box for the game along with Ace Electrical will be Dave Tully Motor Repairs and Andy Downham Clarke with the parents from the U14s.

All at Mayfield would like to thank all the sponsors from the past season for their help and support of the club and the great game of rugby league. A special vote of thanks must go to Dave Marcroft of Ace Electrical for his continued support year after year.
