The Dale Trust sponsored walkers at the Ratcliffe Suite ready to set off
The Dale Trust has held a sponsored walk to Accrington this morning (Saturday 21 September) to raise money for their chosen charity, Football in the Community.
The walk started at the Ratcliffe Suite, Sandy Lane at 08:00am with twenty-two walkers taking part.
The walkers then made their way to Accrington via Edenfield Road and into Haslingden. After making it onto Blackburn Road, the group reached Accrington shortly after 1pm.
The walkers were supported and waved off from the starting point by their non walking supporters, inlcuding Rochdale AFC Chairman Chris Dunphy.
Chairman of the Dale Trust, Dave Gartside, said: “We are walking about 17 miles and hope to raise about £1,000 for Football in the Community.”
Money raised from the walk will go towards buying a van that Football in the Community can use for visiting schools, organisations and community groups throughout the town.
After completing the walk Dave said: “We have all made it in one piece and now we are just getting rehydrated in The Crown.
“There was a slight drizzle but conditions were a lot better than last year so it's been great.”
